A gorgeous place I like to visit with friends and family! The building is gorgeous, and always pristine on the inside. I always enjoy their new exhibitions, the Francis Hodgkins show and the Pacific Sister show on currently are very well worth visiting! Although sometimes there are special shows that require an entry fee, they are very large exhibitions and I find it well worth the money. Most of the gallery is free and also great to wander through. I would really recommend getting a membership if you can, if you go to a special exhibition twice it pays itself off and you get access to the beautiful member's lounge- a great place to sit and get some work done if you are based in the city.

Some amazing pieces of work. Kids loved it here. Free entry is a bonus . Highly recommended. Staff are so pleasant.

I like that there is a kids area. We enjoyed exploring the cardboard city of tiny houses and getting to make our own. I wish that this area was refreshed more often though. If it changed every 3-4 months that would be better for families with young children (especially ones that only like art when it's hands on / kinaesthetic) but the creative learning area seems to run an exhibit for close to a year.

Took the kids to an Maori Art exhibition and they were amazed! The amount of detail that went into some of the portraits made it look like we were looking at a photo. Some of the abstract contemporary pieces were very creative. It's a great place to bring any budding artist to inspire their creativity.

Free for Auckland residents provided you show proof of NZ license. Plenty of staff and security guards to assist throughout the site. Parent friendly toilets on all three levels. A great place to visit to unwind and recharge your senses.
