Fat Camel Cafe

My girlfriends and I went to Fat Camel for an evening out, and all of us thought our food was absolutely delicious!! Will be back!

Can I rate this a 10/5. That is how good the food and experience is.

I drove up to Whangarei for business. Had my meeting and then I went looking for something to eat before I start the long drive back to Auckland.
I discovered this little cafe, walked in and ordered a chicken shawarma. My colleague ordered a lamb shawarma. Hands down this was the best shawarma I tasted in New Zealand. Every mouthful was busting with favour and spices. The chicken was spicy (not hot) and tender. For someone that is not a big fan of beetroot, especially when wearing a suit, I ate the beet and it certainly complemented the shawarma. I also ordered a baklava with my coffee and it was great. Not to much syrup. The Phyio pasty was crispy and the nuts layer where simply perfect. I enjoyed this place so much that I am willing to drive to Whangarei, simply to eat this shawarma. Toda and Shalom.

Had a pita pit from here and it was jam packed full with ingredients and flavor would recommend

Saw this cafe online and was travelling north so decided to stop by. The staff were really friendly, coffee great and food lovely. Food was speedy and nothing was too much trouble. Good atmosphere. Definitely stop again

The Fat Camel is an Israeli restaurant, and serves great falafel, hummus and salads as well as meat options. Service is pleasant and it’s in a quiet side street. They are licensed, so you can get a glass of wine. A casual place, reasonably priced.
