we did the tour of the weta workshop yesterday and it was so interesting. We got to see lots of the props from different movies and our tour guide was great. Also got to see the thunderbird set was awesome

I recommend Weta Cave for both international and domestic visitors.

At my most recent visit I did not do any tours. However, there is a collection of items in the store which are interesting to look at, as well as statues which you can take photos with such as Gollum.

Well worth a visit in my option.

Very happy we took the tour. There was one in Mandarin as well which was great for our homestay student and parents (don't know if they have staff that can do the tour in other languages besides Mandarin or English sorry). Enjoyed seeing and hearing what Weta Workshop gets up to, and the level of excellence and enthusiasm was very obvious. Being able to see and get an idea of how much is involved in making the props was really interesting too.

Not a Hobbit fan, but great tour and can't help be impressed by the skill and passion of these guys. Family were over from the UK and they loved it

A really good tour and well worth doing if you have a few hours to spare.

We did a tour from the central city. The best part for me was hearing the artists responsible for all the sets and characters talk about how they came up with the ideas and made things come to life.

There is a really good gift shop on site although you will be spoiled for choice. Friendly staff and free parking!
