Unreliable - hit and miss. At times I've experienced amazing service from some bus drivers, other times I've experienced horrific service from them, and other times they just don't even show up. Fares are overpriced and just keep getting raised but there is no improvement in services. Some bus drivers are downright dangerous - I've seen them drive with their doors open - flying around corners, not wait until frail old ladies have taken a seat before taking off (and of course, flying around corners and/or breaking suddenly) - I've seen those same old ladies fall to the ground or into the seat.
The drivers on average are by far the worst mannered of any bus service I've used in NZ or Aus. The only reason I continue to use them is because there is no other option - the same reason they get away with raising fares without improving services.

Metlink a very reliable source of travel. They are cheap and affordable and they consistently do a great service for us

Unfortunately the trains weren’t operating in our area for long weekend, but extra buses were provided

Decent bus and train service. Trains and buses are generally clean and well kept. Could be more prompt and cheaper.

Some bus drivers and train inspectors are great but a lot are grumpy and rude. Also the timetables could be improved.
