Free to visit ( but donations help them run the museum) . Always lots to see and quite often have fun kid displays on over the school holidays. Very informative if you want to read everything . The Antarctic display is one of our fav parts- with some interactive stuff to do. Nice cafe on upper floor - with views over fountain/ trees outside. Accessible for all as they have lifts or stairs you can use.

A brilliant museum!
A lovely place to visit for a few hours or the whole day. Lots of exhibits and displays on the local Canterbury area and how it was developed over the past years. Additionally, lots to see about NZ and other places such as Egypt and Europe.
A clean and large museum with a really nice gift shop for something to take away.
There are lovely gardens and a decent cafe with great coffee and cabinet food, friendly staff and free parking

Great museum with a huge variety to look at. I came in with a class and we got a walking tour around the museum with a guide. I enjoyed the historical aspects and the antiques. I didn't like the way the guide talked about local history like it's extinct. The Egyptian room really stood out to me. The café was also good and well priced. Nice giftshop with lovely products. Not a lot of parking.

Lots to see & do - especially enjoyed the Air NZ exhibition in late December/early Jan - including interactive features for kids & adults alike.
