Mercure Auckland

The foyer is a little deceiving as it looks modern, tidy and new, yet the rest of the hotel is very dated. This hotel needs a major face lift. I won't be returning any time soon, which is a shame as the location is excellent.

I stayed at this property once, and I was upgraded to a huge suite with a fantastic sea view. Breakfast is good and the location couldn't be better.

The location is fantastic, just next to Britomart and the harbour. We had a room with a view overlooking the city. The room was very spacious for a city hotel and we were able to see the Skytower from the window. Staff at check-in was very friendly and enjoyed a lot our stay here.

We recently had a team breakfast at Vue in the Grand Mercure, and it was amazing. Highly recommended. The staff were great, friendly and professional. The buffet breakfast was perfect, so many options for even the fussiest eaters. Thanks so much!

Great location at Britomart, and with a bit of shopping around on travel websites you can often find rooms around a $100 a night. The rooms themselves are fine, but traffic noise can be an issue in rooms facing on to Customs St. The Vue bar at the top of the hotel is lovely, with amazing views over Auckland. You can go there for dinner or just for drinks. It's reasonably priced, but the views are what you're paying for really. (Of course, you can see the views for free - just take the escalator to the top floor, and then not buy).

My stay was comfortable and clean, and good value when the room price is considered. It's not luxurious like the nearby Sebel Suites or Stamford Plaza, but the price is a lot cheaper, so that's to be expected.

Good base for an Auckland holiday, good for small groups and families also. Largely used by business travellers from what I could see at breakfast when I stayed.
