Great retro dining area. Love the Barneys Ribs

I loved 'barnies ribs' accompanied with a delicious side of steaming fries and coleslaw. Food can sometimes take awhile to arrive however, staff are very helpful and friendly. Drinks were refreshing and I enjoyed the warm and spirited vibe of the restaurant bar.

Enjoyed the birthday meal at the Lone Keeper at Takapuna. The food is the same quality as what I've had in Pukekohe and Botany. The staff were friendly and able to manage a large goup eating. The atmostpher was good.

We've been on the hunt for ribs that compare to the best we've had up in Paihia at Jimmy's Rib Shack. Lone Star didn't do it for us.

We ordered the large dozen ribs between the two of us. They were served already cut, and although I understand the reasoning this meant the ribs were quite grisly and dry. They were very average and didn't taste the freshest.

They came out a bit too quickly. We were about halfway through and realised that quite a few were luke warm to cold, making them close to inedible. Not a nice texture with fatty ribs! Wasn't worth getting them reheated. They were served with buffalo chips and a slaw. Slaw was fine but we were expecting chips, they were more like roast taters!

Atmosphere would be nice at night but a bit dark during the day.
