When organising my home loan, I shopped around all of the banks. Westpac seemed to have difficulties setting up an appointment in that the call centre and branch went back and forward before setting a time which eventually got cancelled. At the time their rates were not great, but rates are always fluctuating so it's always advisable to check the latest ones
I really did not like the service at the St Lukes branch. I was there to activate my credit card which they had already approved. This should not have taken even 5 minutes. I was there for over 15 minutes and the person at the counter was incredibly slow and rude. He ended up calling the person who was at the triage desk and that person did the job within 2 minutes. I would not recommend going to this branch, makes me rethink about why I am with Westpac when I was there for something simple for around 20 minutes.
I do my grandmothers banking here at the big New Plymouth branch and was pleasantly surprised with the modern improvements it has made at the branch. The whole area is opened right up now and feels far more casual than any other bank I deal with. The Westpac ladies are incredibly lovely and always feel like you are old friends catching up. Excellent customer service, very efficient.
