I loved the modern architecture of the building. Spent the afternoon at the museum. I learned heaps about the maritime history of New Zealand through viewing of the exhibits. Thoroughly enjoyed the heritage sailing with the breeze blowing at me out at sea. It was a wonderful experience!
It is a really good place to know more about the City of Sails. There is a rich history of Auckland's Maritime history with lots of boat models and games for kids to play. There are also cruises which cost $15 dollars per person to sail around the harbour for one hour and it departs two times per day.
Great central Auckland attraction, giving a lot of detail of Auckland's maritime history, and recognising its importance in trade, transportation, and tourism. Has daily sailings from boats moored by the museum, which are well priced and lots of fun. Next to the Viaduct bar area, so you can plan a great day out with lunch or dinner. Family friendly - something for all ages. Free for Auckland residents (with proof of address).
