One of my favourite places to go in Wellington. Hands down the best in NZ and also gives other countries a run for their money. Their permanent displays are great and they have changing special exhibits which are always fascinating. There is an outside section and lovely views towards the sea. It's well worth a visit and I have always found the staff to be very helpful.
Our family loves going here. The cafe of the first floor is family friendly. The kids choose 5 selection is great. The outdoor area is so pretty with the waterfall and swing bridge. The exhibits inside are well thought out and very interesting. The giant squid is very cool. I miss the old school kids play area upstairs with the grocery "shop".
What a fantastic place to learn about NZ history and culture. Explore by yourself or a guide your. Several floors ( Lift and stairs)each with different displays. Cafe, family area and gift shop. High recommend taking a good afternoon to look around. Best of all its free.....donations are appreciated.
Visited to see the army exhibition 'Gallipoli Scale of our War'. Was very impressed, I highly recommend visiting as visually amazing with very real looking people but also informative. Te papa overall is a great place to visit. Has a cafe, coffee was good.
Absolutely amazing museum. Our son had so much fun in the interactive children areas and the cafe is so well equipped to deal with children's food requirements and for the adults the food was great tasting and we'll priced for a "touristy" type place. Clean and staff are really friendly
whats attractive about this meuseum is the interactive activities, it encourages young and old alike to take an interest in history and technology all of which are important aspects of our lives. interesting to is the display at the front of te papa which highlights the sructural design of the building to withstand seismic activity.
this is not what i would class as a museum. the place buzzes with people and they are often changing their exhibits. even those which are more permanent are very interesting. i particularly enjoy the natural forces area. it is so incredible to think this is all happening under our feet, such as earthquakes and volcanoes.
The Te Papa museum is a must-see attraction in Wellington! I spent the entire afternoon viewing the exhibits. I loved the interactive exhibition on Gallipoli which allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of the campaign in World War I. I also enjoyed the exhibition on Phar Lap where I saw his bones. There was complimentary wifi within the museum for guests to tap on.
