SPCA Auckland is Auckland's animal welfare charity. We rescue animals in need and find them forever homes. Why just buy a pet when you could rescue an animal in need and provide them a home for life?
Adopting from the SPCA is one of the most cost-effective ways of getting a pet as the adoption fee covers most of the initial costs. You will also receive expert advice on choosing the right pet for your family from our specialist animal team.
So please rescue an animal in need and get a ‘ready-made pet’ that has been vet checked, de-sexed, micro-chipped, wormed, flead and had initial vaccinations.
We are open 7 days from 10am to 4pm. Come to see the animals available for adoption at the SPCA Animal Village, 50 Westney Rd, Mangere or visit spca.org.nz/adoption/default.asp to see a selection of the animals currently available.
Very reliable place to get a healthy pet. Vast services provided such as health checks and rescue service. They are very helpful in showing the animals and extreamly patient with all as they want the best for both the animals and the owners.
SPCA is just amazing! I was able to play with a few beautiful puppies and kittens before deciding on the perfect fit. They provided great information to looking after my new pet as well as answering all the questions I had. I would recommend SPCA to anyone who is wanting to volunteer to support the great work they are doing or wanting to pick the next addition to their family.
What a wonderful group of hard working and caring individuals. New Zealand is well known for its involvements in the Equine industry. This SPCA branch is inundated with reports of abused racing horses and ex-broodmares. As a Horse owner myself - it is reassuring to know that there is a dedicated force to rehabilitating and re-homing these wonderful animals. Thanks SPCA!
We recently got our first cat from this shelter. All aspects of the process here were easy and all staff were very helpful in helping us make a decision. We were given lots of information to go away with about how to give our cat the best introduction to our home, vet visits and caring for our cat. We bought food for him also and there is a great shop that sells everything you need and at reasonable prices. A great place to go if you are thinking of adopting a pet but are not sure what is right for you because the staff are knowledgable and you are not under pressure at all. You can take your time seeing what pets they have availble and the environment is clean and safe.
