southern movers moved my belongings from queenstown to wellington over a year ago, my stuff arrived in a total mess, looked like it had been thrown all over the place with no respect given. there was also one item missing. I contacted the company numerous times via email and phone calls, tony who i spoke to was continually hard to get hold of, when i spoke to him he said he would look into it, then nothing. i sent images of the damage twice, told he would look into it and nothing ever happened. would never use this company again or recommend to anyone
Thanks Southern Furniture for your support on two occasions relating to family estate matters requiring furniture being distributed for the various beneficiaries across NZ. For what were two highly sensitive removal projects, the tolerance and sensitivity during times of high emotion (at times) to these logistic projects were very much appreciated.

Finally got around to writing a review, I have used this company at least 8 times now, over about 8 years, both for personal and business.use. Moving house, getting house-lot picked up after flooding, moving house twice, deliveries from Harvey Normans.
Let me start with the management, always bent over backwards to make sure that I got looked after, and that they could fit into my time frames, good contact and efficient booking and follow up. After the floods they even stored my stuff until my place was dry, they also liaised with the insurance company for billing, and then returned my stuff when the house was fixed.
The team of guys, always went the extra mile to make sure that things were picked up, stacked properly, and put in the right rooms when delivering, worked hard, had to be forced to have a break for a cuppa when I had them for a whole day,. They always called to let me know that they were on their way. Worked efficiently and carefully, and always managed to carefully navigate my difficult driveways.
Also have moved and delivered large items I have bought from trademe door to door, hassle free and cheap.
Been more than happy with their service, and happy to vouch for them any time.
Here were the issues. 1. Manager (Tony) was rude, disrepectful and hung up with a childish comment 'I dont want to deal with you'. 2. Despite his arrogance, he succumbed to the lure of money and sent his 'boys' over to deliver a mattress- they did not deliver it to the room. 3. During the delivery of a few chairs to the lougue, his boys left a mark on my door.. Stay away the best you can, unfortunately the furniture company I selected only dealt with these muppets.
Friendly service, but they managed to stuff up the delivery a bit. Goods were supposed to be delivered from Dunedin to Christchurch over a weekend (pick up on Friday, delivery on Monday), but failed to turn up on Monday, and Tuesday, and when I called their Christchurch contractor they didn't know anything about things to be delivered on Monday.
Not sure exactly what happened, but it seemed like there was a significant breakdown in communication between them and their Christchurch contractor.
I must apologise for the issue that occurred with your delivery. Here at Southern, we pride ourselves on not promising things we cannot do and we expect the same from our sub-contractors. I am sorry they let you down in this instance. Jobs were always communicated to them so I'm not sure what happened there either.
However, it was noted that there was an issue in our network with Christchurch deliveries and in November 2014, we opened our own branch in Christchurch to ensure much smoother processes for our customers. Please let us know if we can be of service to you in the future, I am confident that the issue you experienced is now resolved.

used this company to move my stuff from chch to wanaka, via dunedin. they were simply outstanding. they had so much patience with some of my rather obscure demands and even stored some of my furniture for me until i was ready to have it delivered at no charge! their delviery truck arrived on time when they said they would and their prices to move my stuff across the sth isl. was by far the cheapest i had quoted
