We have been going to Royal Siam for both dine in and takeaways for a number of years. It also happens to be our local as well, although we walk past one Thai restaurants to go to Royal Siam. The staff know us by name and are always polite and obliging. The food is always tasty and well presented. There is a good selection to choose from. They provide heated towels after the meal to freshen up, which is a nice touch.
The restaurant itself is small with perhaps 10 tables, but this is ideal as a two-some, four-some or a mall group, as you can enjoy a conversation without shouting :-).
We really wanted to try Nanam but we couldn't sneak ourselves in their massive waiting list on a Saturday night. So we went to try Royal Siam which is right next door. We were really not expecting anything from this place, but we were really surprised by how nice the service was. We enjoyed our orders as well (Bangkok Yellow Curry, Cashew Chicken, Pad Thai) and the free flowing rice was a nice surprise as well! If we happen to find ourselves hungry around Royal Oak, we wouldn't mind giving this place another go.
This Thai restaurant is a hidden gem... Although not particularly inviting from the outside, the food is fresh and tasty. They serve the best, most well balanced tom yum goong I have quite possibly tasted! The take away service can be a hit and miss - one time I was told the meal was going to take forty minutes, so turned up forty minutes later only to find I had to wait another forty minutes -one hour twenty in total. Another time they got our order wrong. However, the tasty Thai food still keeps us coming back for more!.. And we are pleased to have this restaurant as our local.
