Love that the majority of their fruit, veges and herbs come from their farm, while the meat is locally sourced. Oh and everything tastes damn good too. The farm to plate concept done deliciously well. I love the amazing fresh tastes and coming back again and again to try new things.
A semi opened plan seating in the midst of Britomart, this place fills up quickly. All the dishes including breakfast are a little offbeat, but don't be detered by this, do give it a try. The fish and the pasta dishes I would definitely recommend, as well as the gelato which are from Milse next door.

I thoroughly enjoyed the mushroom gundi with butter sage sauce followed by the pan seared crispy John Dory with fig jam and barley raddish embellishments and a side of caramelised walnut Brussel sprouts finished off with a caramelia hot Valrhona chocolate. Simply divine!
An exquisite dining experience not only for the tastebuds but for the eyes too. Ortolana is a visually stunning looking restaurant nestled within the Britomart precinct, and offers a truly unique nouveau gastronomic ambience accompanied with exemplary customer service. The wait staff were highly engaging and knowledgeable about the menu and able to recommend dishes without hesitation providing sound reasoning.
To start, we enjoyed the iced Valrhona chocolate and fresh beetroot, carrot, ginger and apple juice, whilst being diligently topped up with sparkling water throughout the entire dining experience. I loved my dishes of kingfish crudo followed by the chicken cortolado. Whilst there was reduced conversation whilst we ate, sounds of appreciative murmuring could be heard. To close, I was treated to a white chocolate vertinevwith salted caramel and kiwi. It was truly heavenly! What a way to start a new year off!
I'd highly recommend this restaurant for special occasions and will visit again with loved ones. Five star experience!
Solid 4. Dined here for lunch with my wife and young daughter 2 days ago. The meal was part of Topshop shopping day for my wifes birthday, we enjoyed the Bacalla/market fish dish/pasta dish and dessert from Milse next door.
All three dishes were beautifully presented and cooked to a very high standard. Service was outstanding, very attentive and friendly with a great atmosphere.
Only thing holding back from a five star was that the food while great was not mind blowing, not in that jolt to the sense way that top chefs/restaurants can reach. Great option for a special occasion in the CBD though.
My meal of lamb, lentils, grapes and labneh at Ortolana might be the best I've ever had in Auckland. Meanwhile, the vegetarian chittarra pasta with zucchini, almond and parmesan butter that my wife had was equally sublime. I can also recommend the home-made feijoa and lime soda.
A wonderful dining experience!. The fairy lights are just breathtaking, the food is delicious and you even get a blanket to snuggle into if it's chilly. Milse desert bar is just a stones throw away and your waiter will even put you on their waitlist. It really is a wonderful night out.
Really lovely spot for Saturday lunch. Had a delish pasta with courgette, almonds and butter. You can order dessert from Milse (not sure if you can do this at night) and it is outstanding. Portions are quite modest so if you've got hungry lads, do a starter or snack plate too.
