So today I was looking forward to a nice pot of kinas. I was unable to get them at my favourite spot, Te Arawa Fisheries as they had run out during the weekend. Devon's fish and chip shop was also closed so I thought I would go to Neptunes. Have and behold they had about 20 pots of kinas. I grabbed the best looking one from the fridge. They all had their expiry stickers ripped off. I found this a bit fishy but was willing to pay the price of $13.50 as displayed. When I went to the counter he said it was only $11. Alarm bells were ringing in my head. Is this old stock? Surely a shop would not sell old or off seafood. So I quickly whipped home so I could wrap my jaws around the pot of kina's, and ewes yuck they were off. I was deeply disappointed and decided to ring the store to inform them of the incident and hopefully get some reimbursement. I was also informing them so nobody else has to go through that. So I rang them. After about seven rings their was an answer. Presuming it was the same guy who had served me i told him that the kinas I had just bought were off. He then proceeded to tell me that they are prefrozen as if this information makes up for the off kinas. I then said I've had many kinas of that same brand and they have never ever tasted that bad. There was no apology, no form of a solution and no actions being done to stop the off kinas being sold. I found this very poor customer service and will not be returning. Mistakes happen but it's how u resolve it that can earn u more customers or lose existing customers.
