One of my favourite Japanese restaurants ever. is slightly on the more expensive side but the food really does prove why. Absolutely incredible dishes, even the edamame was amazing! Staff were incredible - every accomodating. This is a must visit at least once in Auckland.
Their food is so fresh and yum! We tried 120pp menu and it didn't disappoint us.All the dishes we had tried: the salmon and spicy tuna maki rolls, agedashi tofu, salmon tataki, black cod, king crab, lamb cutlets, grilled eggplant, chili miso chicken, pork and kimchi gyoza were all delicious.Really enjoyed MASU, all the dishes ordered were done to perfection.
Great staff as well.
Exceptional customer service with waitresses who are warm and welcoming and knowledgeable about the Masu menu.
With our first visit to Masu, I was overwhelmed and taken aback by how stunning the interior and restaurant for our, with a focal point being in the chefs on their cooking stations in the kitchen.
We tried out one of the introductory set menus in order to imbue Masu in true essence which was a truly divine culinary experience. We were treated to seven magical and transcending courses of the best of what Masu has to offer, and our table was well sated, besotted by the many signature and specialty dishes, and highly impressed by our food journey.
Some of my favourite outstanding dishes were the ceviche tacos, trio of salmon, tuna and kingfish sashimi, seared miso salmon, snapper and prawn gyoza followed by the splendid dessert trio showcase.
It most definitely has been my best dining experience of the year and I'd highly recommend Masu with honours and distinction. My next visit will involve delving into the a la carte menu without training wheels on!
This review is for the bar only. My wife and I were looking for a drink before a table became free at depot. We misguidedly tried sky city - so weird. Then the Spanish place further up federal street - drinks menu uninspiring. Walked into Masu bar without making the connection to the well known restaurant. Pleasant staff, good service and what a drinks list. Great selection of proper whiskies - well Japanese whisky anyway, the Scottish options are not very exciting (oban etc.).
We enjoyed two amazing suntory malts, very pleasant, will happily go back - and eat too hopefully
