We made a night of it and booked one of the many holiday homes available for rent in Moeraki. We were right across the road from Fleurs Place so no issues with driving after a few drinks. Had a table upstairs with a lovely view of the water. Food was fantastic, although I'm not a seafood fan there was still plenty of choice and my husband who loves seafood was in his element. Fleur was an attentive host, checking that everything was good with our meals and staying to chat for a bit. The meals were huge and delicious as we had heard from friends who had visited previously. The next morning we walked the track around the waters edge and watched the fisherman at work, we loved this quaint little seaside town.
This place is famous for a reason - the seafood chowder is incredible and the whole fish dishes are beyond incredible. Huge portions! Try to get a table upstairs by one of the windows - you don't get restaurant views like this anymore. It's definitely worth the drive :-)
We both had the soup for lunch as nothing tickled our fancy on the menu. Our daughter had the pasta on the kids menu and we almost fell off our seats when seeing how massive the plate full was! Could have done all three of us! Our meals were delicious and well made. Not family friendly for wee ones but would be a lovely place to have a drink and enjoy the views.
Expected a lot more. Staff were arrogant. Food was average, maybe they have slipped or haven't been able to produce a dish quite like the one Rick had. All customers should be treated equally no matter who you are or where you are from. Besides this, it was a great setting!
