What makes us different?
We are an owner-operated authentic Italian pizzeria and spaghetteria. Our restaurant is a busy, lively, stimulating and popular. We are one of Dunedin's most established restaurants and have been in operation for more than 20 years.
My go-to place in Dunedin. Have found the dining options in the city a little hit and miss until we struck upon this gem. Always busy and vibrant, warm and welcoming, the food is spot on. Had Schiacchiata (excuse the spelling) flatbread recommended by waitress to start, which was perfect (as a bread connoisseur!). With Venison Ragu for mains and Affogato for desert, this rounded off a beautiful meal. A wide ranging menu for all budgets and tastes.
I agree with Abigail that this is the best Italian food I've ever had, in either New Zealand or the UK. The rosemary and rock salt flat bread is an awesome starter, and the pizzas are mouth wateringly tasty with lovely crisp bases. They have a good variety of pasta dishes and I haven't found one I enjoy more than their penne al salmone. A number of people have taken me to Etrusco as their favourite restaurant and I've always found the service to be pleasant and prompt (including a few times when the owner's young son did a splendid job as our waiter). It's been 10 or 15 years since I first went to Etrusco and I can't see myself not going again as often as possible.
Great value, tasty food in beautiful surroundings! These guys serve the best schiacciata (rock salt and rosemary pizza bread) that I've tasted, and I've deliberately tried it at many places throughout New Zealand, and their Crostata Al Limone (Lemon cheesecake) is absolutely to die for. Mix these with the penne al verde (penne pasta tossed in spinach and toasted pinenuts with a dash of cream and fresh parmesan) and you have just about the perfect meal. Add in their excellent, and well priced, wine selection or bring a bottle of your favourite wine along, share it with great company and it hands down becomes my favourite place to dine in Dunedin.
