Definite five stars for the Chateau. As a recent arrival to NZ I was taken aback by how well known the Chateau is amongst co-workers. I can now appreciate and understand it's standing. This is a gorgeous old building that echoes a different age. I have seen reviews stating that the Chateau can be stuffy, but I guess you can allow yourself to feel a certain way during any stay. The breakfast was excellent, the staff super professional and our family room was just great. A faultless stay.
Lovely, warm, comfortable hotel with just about everything catered for.
Our ensuite room was lovely - on the top floor with great views of the snow outside. We had a family room which was perfect for our little family of three.
Breakfast was great and then the choice of the restaurant or the smaller type 'bistro' kept us fed with good, healthy food. We found the kids' menu suited us all as we got dinner, desert and a drink each for only $15 - great value.
The pool underneath is very weird (low ceiling over the water with strange blue lighting) but it didn't worry us as we went to the Tokaanu Thermal Pools for a soak several times.
Highly recommended even though to start with it can seem a bit stuffy and contrived. We'll be back!
