I've been going to bowler motors for just under 3yrs now and I have always received excellent service regardless of whether I've rung and made and appointment or not by Duncan and Dave.. I'm given helpful little tips to help me out with my car (as I am a typical female who knows absolutely nothing about cars) and rides home when needed.. This alone I would give them 5 stars...
Today however as I was pulling into my workplace carpark my car broke down. I had managed to get it started again but I wanted to get it looked at just in case, as I finish work at midnight and didn't want it breaking down on me on the way home.. I had arranged for a family member to come sort it out for me as I didn't have time to do so myself. I had told her to take it to bowler motors and ask them if they would be able to take a look at it and see if there was anything wrong.. On arrival my family member had asked if some one could take a look at it and had told them what had happened to the car, she had said that Dave in particular was quite rude to her and he had said that he had no idea who I was and that I had never been to bowler motors!!.. Don't know what was up with that as I go to them several times a year to get a WOF, service, new tyres and other bits and bobs that have needed fixing.. Dave had agreed to fix my car as it turned out it needed a new battery which only cost me $170 but she said the service from Dave was terrible, don't know if he was having a bad day or not but good customer service is essential for some one who is useless with cars like me and so for this my review is only 3 stars..
I will probably give them another chance but if the service is bad again and they are rude to me or a family member of mine I will find somewhere else to go
Went to replace steering problem. for warrant of fitness and a shop in Jacksonville wanted to charge me $410 for it. Took it to Boweler Motors and they did it for almost quarter of the price! A problem that was going to apparently take 4-5 hours to fix they had it done and ready in under 2 hours. Then did a free warrant of fitness check! Came in on a Saturday and was serviced by Duncan.
I had a poor experience here on 16 June 2014. I telephoned them at 9am and booked my vehicle in for a WOF, specifically confirming that it could be done while I waited between 1pm and 2pm that day. After driving 80km, and arriving a few minutes after 1pm, I waited until 1.30pm for the man to return from another job. He then told me that my WOF could NOT be done that day at all, and that I shouldn't have been told it could be. There was no apology, but just lots of excuses (including that he wasn't authorised to issue WOFs and his authorised mechanic was on planned leave for the day). He did eventually offer me a free WOF if I returned the following day. Unfortunately that was no use to me, so he said I could drive another 50km to his Porirua Branch for the WOF. There was still no apology but at least he was offering a free WOF. I accepted this, thinking that if my vehicle didn't pass the WOF at least I wouldn't feel obliged to go all the way to Porirua again, not having paid any WOF fee there. On arrival at the Porirua Branch I was told the WOF would not be free, and I would be required to pay the full WOF free, without even so much as a discount for my considerable inconveneince. By this time it was 3pm and in the circumstances I declined to offer this business my custom. I could not rate it with even 1 star, since my satisfaction was nil (but the system obliges me to select a minimum of 1 half-star) . Consequently I could not recommend this business to anybody.
