The cable car ride to the gardens was enjoyable with the multi coloured lights in the tunnel entertaining for the kids. The views from the gardens was amazing looking down onto the sea front. The children's play area in the gardens was enjoyable with slides, swings, climbing frame and flying fox available. The gardens were limited with the flowers out but this was due to the high winds and time of year. Definitely worth visiting in the summer rather than Autumn.
I took the cable car to get to the botanic gardens and the views from the top were stunning. he garden itself, I was slightly disappointed because it didn't look like the photo on the brochure, so I I was expecting more flowers. The walk was lovely and it is beautiful on a sunny day.
One of the more interesting botanic gardens. Situated on top and coming down from a hill, lots of nooks and crannies, spaces to explore and windy paths. A great playground and views of the surrounding area. A bit secluded and gives you a feel of the Wellington landscape. Not so much about the species of the flora and fauna but an interesting place to visit because not everything can be seen by a sweep of the eye.
A very picturesque garden with varied terrain from flat areas such as the rose garden to more hilly areas. The fish pond in the visitor centre was a highlight, as was the culinary garden. Enjoyed the various sculptures throughout and the trees where you could see kaka stripping bark back, after the sugary sap!
Amazing gardens... So many trails and pathways to choose from. Leading you into specialist gardens (Australia flora, succulents, fern alley) with duckponds and outdoor sculptures. Really really lovely, and definitely worth a visit. Great for kids too-- there is a fun playpark there.
