I would agree with the below comments that there needs to be a train connection between the domestic and international airports, but apart from this, think Auckland Airport is great. There's heaps of eateries to grab something from and shops to peruse, and it's always very clean.
Good facilities, good location and not that far.
However, our lovely airport needs a train connection and needs it sooner. Parking has to be paid but has lots of options for parking or park and ride.
Good duty free area. Staffing is good and mostly adequate. I know they are going through expansions so let's see what's in store. Have options of Koru lounge and other lounges by other airlines. Good lay out and have hardly encountered any issue.
Unfortunately got stuck in the recent storm weather.... all flights around my flight time (before and after) we are advised of cancellations, my flight was delayed never mentioned...then involved a one hour wait to be put on standby...... then a fight before and after me was flown and not mine... lack of communication not helpful, no apology given
There is a good selection of food and shopping once you have checked in however there is not much comfortable space for waiting for your flight. They recently installed seats that are much less comfortable than the old ones, and there are no charging points. The toilets are also a long walk away. Needs a better design.
Small airport which has all of the basics. The staff who monitor the parking drop off area are pretty rude which left a bad experience for me - and the manager never followed up.
Recently got stuck on the tarmac for more than 30 minutes because our plane's "bay was taken" - how it takes 30 minutes to organise a back up spot for a bus to come and get us is beyond me. When you've got an 18 month old with you, those extra 30 minutes are very long. Felt bad for the pilot who had to keep apologising for the delays.
Once I've been through the express line at customs with the baby which was nice, but other times have had to wait. Other airports are hit and miss as well, but it's a shame Auckland often "misses" too.
Signage on the way to the airport is pretty poor/unclear, unless you're a local it's easy to go the wrong way. Even if you're a local you can easily go to the wrong area (hence the parking rudeness).
