The only thing that lets Auckland Airport down is the drive to and from it. The road system is awful. Clean and tidy with helpful staff that very rarely seem to let you down. Being a smoker it has an outside smoking area that also has covers for people who very rarely get looked after nowadays.
Separate internal and domestic terminals. There are cheaper parking located 10mins outside the airport that offer shuttle bus drop off and pick up. Smart gates are very convenient. Not much food offering beyond the departure gates.
The new renovations to the domestic terminal are great, and the new Walker and Hall jewellery shop is a welcome addition. I had an hour delay for my flight this evening so I love that they have massage seats that you can relax in while you wait.
This is indeed a clean and world-class airport, however it is rather small. One time I got stuck in a 12hr flight delay and there was hardly anything to do to pass the time. It does have a pay-per-entry Emperor Lounge which I would pay for the next time I have the same misfortune. Otherwise, it's a pleasure to land in Auckland.
We aren't really spoiled with choice in Auckland when flying internationally but I rate the Auckland International Airport amongst the best in the world. Not much healthy food options while you're there though, just lots of fast food chains. My recommendation would be to fill up before you fly off.
Auckland airport has been voted in the top 10 in the world! This is a nice airport which is open and clean. There are a few shops worth taking a look in before departing. The staff are friendly and the building has an easy layout. There is free wifi to use for about 30mins, might be nice for those passengers waiting to be able to access this for longer.
