The food was awful. The bacon wrapped chicken was COLD and pre cooked possibly several days earlier. The potato salad was large chunks of spuds and mayo with nothing else. The waitstaff dumped plates and drinks on table and had NO idea how to serve , or how to remember orders. Yeah they might be famous for their ribs, but better ribs are served elsewhere in Whangarei.

Jimmy's Rib Shack in Paihia was legit the best thing ever and then they went changed their recipe and it wasn’t as good. However jimmy jacks in Whangarei has redeemed its place for good ribs. From memory it was slightly on the more expensive side of things. Good ribs just not enough sauce.

I first dined at Jimmy's Rib Shack in Paihia. Everything was aaamazing! Displayed very well. I couldn't get over the garlic bread. Yummy buttery bread! Staff were helpful and vibrant. I was excited that a franchise was coming to whangarei only to be let down. The long wait to be seated at our table. The sauce to the ribs was slightly different. Instead of our ribs being served on a chopping board nicely it came out on multiple plain white dinner plate. Excited to get the same garlic bread as in Paihia it was the total opposite. Thin sliced dry bread. Almost looked like pita bread. I wouldn't recommend Whangarei franchise but most definitely Paihia. It is totally worth the drive ?
