Unity Books

Best book shop in Wellington! I always pop in to browse and you can find some good gifts as they have a really wide selection of books that you can't find everywhere. Staff always know what they are talking about too.

I LOVE this book store. It has an amazingly diverse range of books with some very hard to find titles. The staff are generally friendly and approachable but on occassion I have encountered some who are a bit snotty and intimidating.
The layout of this store is fairly difficult to navigate and some of the books are very low to the ground which makes it less accessible to some members of the community (e.g. those with mobility issues or older people who can not stoop down) - I can not kneel so I end up sitting on the ground to browse the lower shelf. This shop could do with a few more chairs to sit and browse at, it's sad that book shops do not supply as many seats as the used to. In saying that Unity books supplies far more than the chain book stores around.
In addition to the books Unity offers events such as readings and signings, a newsletter, and a fantastic selection of cards. This is the ideal place to fritter away an hour or two browsing. Don't miss the sale bin just outside the store either!

An amazing store! Huge range, with a lot of stuff that's really hard to find and also host to cool events like book launches and readings.

My absolute favourite book store in Wellington! I've purchased (and wanted to purchase) so many books here it's not funny. Many have been NZ biography or Maori related books of which there is plenty of variety. I like the way they categorise and the quirky gifts you can purchase.
