Hippopotamus Restaurant and Cocktail Bar

We had our reception at Hippopotamus. We started with canapés and Champagne Noir from Cloudy Bay in the cocktail lounge, followed by a private dining lunch in the Le Salon de Louis Roederer room.. Camille was so easy and lovely to deal with. Out meeting with her, Florent, and the chef was very helpful, and they are all so nice, experienced, professional and French (the best part)! The food was amazing, as was the wine matched to each course. We had a three course degustation menu. They did an amazing job for us and our small group of 10. Thank you so much for making our wedding reception dream come true. The food, service, ambience, pricing, calibre, layout, decor, planning and staff were all above and beyond. For true French food of a high class and silver service calibre - go to the Hippopotamus!!

Highly recommend the salmon sashimi, wallaby, roasted salmon, and the creme brûlée. Wine matching was perfect from the 1927 Port through to the present day Pino Blanc/Gris.

Had a wonderful work do here. Service was great with delicious food platters, they were always making sure the food kept coming!

An impromptu visit for breakfast. Although a little more expensive than other places, the large serving of eggs Benedict and Big breakfast plus views across to the waterfront area and Sunday market was well worth it. Also great table service.

After staying several nights at the museum art hotel we were veiled ourself have the buffet breakfast at the hippopotamus restaurant it was beyond expectation and the highest Calibre buffet we have ever seen recommended to everyone you will not be disappointed
