Review Guidelines
Here at Yellow we want to know more about your experiences with NZ businesses and value your contributions to our site! We also want to make sure that Yellow is a trustworthy source of helpful information for our users. To help us with this, and to get your review published as quickly as possible, please ensure your reviews follow our guidelines:
Keep it accurate and appropriate for everyone
We don’t allow swearing or vulgarities in reviews. We also reject reviews that include spelling mistakes, poor grammar, sexually explicit comments, prejudiced language, threats, defamatory content or personal insults, or that describe participation in activities in breach of NZ laws. Yellow does not allow reviews that promote intolerance for individuals or groups of people based on their race, gender, religion, sexual preference, or nationality.
Relevant
Keep your reviews relevant and helpful – keep in mind users are reading your review to understand what an experience with that business might be like. For this reason, please don’t make your reviews too vague or brief, include personal opinions about politics or other issues, or try to use a review to smear another person.
unbiased
Reviews are most helpful when they provide unbiased advice. that’s why we don't allow business owners to publish reviews of their business or competing establishments. Reviews submitted in an attempt to blackmail a listing will not be published. if you suspect a review is fraudulent or doesn’t meet our guidelines, you can use the Report button located at the bottom of each review.
First-Hand
Please, only provide reviews based on real experiences you’ve had and be sure to include enough detail in your review so others will find your advice helpful. this means no second-hand information, rumors, or quotations from other sources in your review
Recent
The best reviews are those that are written within a few days of your experience. We want to hear about your experiences, but bear in mind you can only review each business once. if you want to update a previous review then you can do this by logging into My Yellow, then go into the Reviews section and select the Edit review button.
Created by you & unique
Give us your honest, and accurate feedback — just make sure it’s yours! Reviews should contain original content and no information copied or quoted from other places (including other reviews you have already submitted). any review content plagiarised from other websites, reviewers, emails, or printed materials will be removed and your My Yellow account may be suspended.
Non-commercial
Reviews are not there to advertise the business. please don’t include marketing content or information on deals or offers. Reviews that are being offered in exchange for personal gain, such as gifts, services, or money, will be removed. We reserve the right to delete specific content for any reason. We do not allow reviews that contain links to external websites.
Respectful of private information
We abide by the privacy act here at Yellow and this means both your privacy and the privacy of the businesses we list. so when you leave a review please make sure it doesn’t contain any private information. We will accept reviews with specific names such as “David the barista makes the best flat white i’ve had”, but only first names please. any reviews containing financial information will be removed.
The right listing
A review must relate to the business to which it is submitted, so please ensure you are submitting your review to the relevant business. For example, if you are reviewing a store which has many branches please make sure you select the correct branch. if you cannot find the branch you visited please let us know so we can add them to Yellow. it’s really easy - just head to https://yellow.co.nz/and complete the simple form.
