Lone Star Cafe and Bar Palmerston North

Food is okay, not very consistent. Have had good and bad experiences.

Lone star is on the Square along from the City Council Building and has parking near-by. They have an up-stairs bar which is separate from the dining area and wine, spirits and beer can be purchased. The meals are large and well cooked with table service. Look at paying around $30 for a main but they are a very good size. The staff are friendly and helpful and in the cooler evenings they have an open fire in the Dining room. Be careful taking alcohol out of the restaurant as it is in an alcohol free area

The platter was great. The famous coleslaw and Buffalo chips that came with main, only 1 person out of 12 ate, the salad was not nice and the chips too salty. Desserts were over sweet and sickly

We dined here on queens birthday weekend and didn't make a booking. They were very busy and almost totally booked but managed to find us a table. The service was very friendly and our food was served very quickly and tasted amazing also. Big thumbs up for such good service on such a busy night

Love coming to dine here. The place is very comfortable and vibrant and cosy. The food is all very nice, we have tried multiple things on the menu. The lone star rewards programme is well worth it too. The staff are great, even when busy they do thier best to serve you. If it’s a special occasion they bring out surprise dessert and a drink of your choice which is nice. It is on the expensive side but definitly money well spent. Would recommend.
