Travelled Cambridge to Wellington return recently. Interesting way to see the country side!! Comfy bus with free wifi and USB ports if needed. Book early and seat is extra cheap! Had a breakdown on return trip but was dealt with as quickly as possible. Behind the scenes changes were made to the route to enable all passengers to make connections etc.

Travelled around the South Island with Intercity and they did an amazing job. The knowledgable bus captains provide amazing commentaries which is really informative with reasonable breaks. Website-wise, I find it hard to navigate. Can never seem to find overnight buses (or maybe its just me).

I always travel with intercity bus as i have been with them for such a long time. I know the schedule, where they stop and how long we get for a break. I can even plan a short shopping trip in Taupo while we stop over. I like the route they take to Auckland which is why i continue to travel with them.

I have found the bus is a much cheaper alternative to flying and when i catch the overnight bus i am not wasting a day - i can just sleep on the bus overnight. The night trips are very long but they don't have alot of stops so its great to just settle in and take a nap. The seats are comfortable and recline slightly which is great especially if you get a window seat.

They have these new premium seats which i got the last time i traveled with them. They are much more comfortable and a little bit wider than the normal seats. They are also at the front of the bus so you can get on and off earlier.
