General Info
The Otago Daily Times, the newspaper with the longest history of daily publication in New Zealand, first rolled off the press on November 15, 1861. It was founded by Julius (later Sir Julius) Vogel,an Englishman of Jewish parentage, who began his journalistic career in Australia in 1856. Otago was in the grip of gold fever when Vogel arrived in 1861 and he saw immediate possibilities for a daily paper to serve a population expanding week on week, as new gold rushes occurred.

A good long history of valid reporting in the Otago region and beyond. I was interviewed by a reporter a few years ago in regard to the effects of video gaming on young people. I appreciated the balanced reporting and representation of my experience. Thanks odt.

The most read newspaper in Otago. I like how it involves a section on university related news including issues concerning international students. Lovely staff to work with too.

Great local newspaper. I read this whenever I get a chance. Good articles, well researched and less 'rubbish' than other online newsfeeds

I rate this the best daily regional newspaper in the country. Knowledgeable, helpful staff behind the counter in the office.
