Large and interesting museum with lots to see and do. Can spend a great family day there with the Auckland domain just outside too. Really recommend to learn about New Zealand's culture and history.

Such a fantastic museum. You can tell significant work went into its creation.

Free entry for Aucklanders. Excellent museum with a huge number of collections or artifacts, with emphasis on NZ Maori and Pacific cultures. They also have dinosaur fossils! They also have temporary collections and host events in the newer section at the back. Worth a visit if you live here, not just for overseas travellers.

A good place to spend an afternoon. A really nice building and every now and then there are events outside based here. The space inside the museum is absolutely huge and are fairly good quality. The special exhibitions are worth visiting if they interest you because they are generally quite well done. A mixture of the old and new in terms of the architecture.

The Auckland War Memorial is an amazing museum. It stands majestic on the hill, overlooking Auckland and the harbour. It houses some of the most amazing natural history, New Zealand history and military collections. Their one-off exhibitions are brilliant too. They're interactive and fun. Anzac Day morning at the cenotaph is spine tingling. One of the best museums in the world. Highly recommended.
