The greatest yakitori of Auckland so far! It is very packed on weekends but definitely worth the wait to be seated

Cracking place. Strong review game as seen below. Popped in to try and save a date night after a fruitless attempt to get into Milse the dessert place in Britomart. Tanukis was just perfect, had a gallon of warm sake, sat at the bar with my beautiful wife, no pressure to eat. Enjoyed watching the samurai style approach to preparing minute detail on the plates.

This place used to be great. I went there recently for the first time in a while and was so disappointed. The food was below average, the ingredients were cheap and processed, the skewers were under cooked, the BBQ chef seemed to have lost his skills. Or was there a change in ownership?

Burried away under queen st tanukis is excellent. The fried garlic is amazing!!!

A really awesome authentic Izakaya in Auckland! Great to go as a group for food and drinks before going to the theatre or a comedy show.
