Ponsonby Road Bistro

This is a great restaurant, I have been a few times and every time I have had amazing service. The menu changes often, always offering a delicious range, the flavor combinations are outstanding.

The apple dessert is amazing - so yum! Service is fantastic

Our food was good too but several dishes were swamped with sauces which tended to overwhelm things. My confit of duck was invisible under a blanket of far too much cranberry sauce. The over-cooked broccolini swam in miso butter and ditto with the otherwise excellent baby kumara, drowning in buttermilk dressing. Sauces are fine when they add to a dish but should not become the whole point of the dish.
Desserts were lovely, including affogato and the coffee was excellent too.

Always a nice relaxed atmosphere here. The food and service, always great. its european food, and they cater for all food types. I especially like the chicken dish. Highly recommend !!

I have always loved this place. The service is always personal and excellent. I took my mother who has a bad nut allergy & as soon as we sat down the maitre'd came over to ensure she knew who at the table had the allergy & ensure she understood the options and felt relaxed. They are really professional and friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcomed and well cared for.
The food is always amazingly delicious & while being a smaller selection it is based on the seasonality & has inventive combinations.The wine list is pretty extensive and the staff are really well educated to offer suggestions. Make sure you try some of the great cocktails as well. I would be here every week if I could. Keep up the great work guys.
