      Having eaten here since its early days, Ponsonby Road Bistro always delivers with great food and ambience plus professional friendly service. With a varied menu across beef, poultry, pork and seafood, along with choices for vegetarians, enjoyable options await. Continues to be popular so advance booking recommended.

      Pretty standard food but the service was nice

      Our food was good too but several dishes were swamped with sauces which tended to overwhelm things. My confit of duck was invisible under a blanket of far too much cranberry sauce. The over-cooked broccolini swam in miso butter and ditto with the otherwise excellent baby kumara, drowning in buttermilk dressing. Sauces are fine when they add to a dish but should not become the whole point of the dish.
      Desserts were lovely, including affogato and the coffee was excellent too.
