      General Info

      Butterfly Creek are proud to host NZ's only giant saltwater crocodiles - the world's apex predators. Complimenting these reptiles is our magnificent tropical butterfly house, cotton-top tamarins and other reptiles such as the bearded dragon and alligators. We also host NZ's giant wetapunga - one of the world's largest insects and an aquaria and bugs exhibit including tarantulas. Beside the courtyard and playground, take a wee train ride around the new Dinosaur Kingdom that opened in Jan 2014 - see the dinosaurs come to life! Last but not least is Buttermilk farm where you can get up close and personal with the cute and cuddly animals. Butterfly Creek hosts fantastic all-inclusive children's parties and we run a behind the scenes Junior Keeper programme for those animal lovers. Animal encounters occur daily and we are open every day except Xmas & Boxing day and we are 50% undercover so don't let the rain put you off! We are situated 2 minutes from the Airport and provide a free shuttle service to and from the airport.

      I thoroughly enjoy it here, and so do my family. Its a great place to visit and very family friendly and orientated. Buy the family deals as a concession is more expensive if you buy it singularly. The butterfly house is one of their main attractions and is lovely. They do live crocodile shows also, and the food onsite is actually really good!

      My 2 year old loved it very much...all the colours, noises n Impressions. It was a fun time beeing there...My older kids were nt tooooo fussed, but the are teens nw. Will prob go back at some stage when we visit Auckland again. I can recommend up to age 8..

      Took our little one on a Saturday afternoon. It's must have been peak time because there was no parking spaces left. The butterfly enclosure felt like a sauna. Amazing arrange of butterfly species they have. Felt sorry for the crocodile in it's small enclosure. Absolutely loved the dinosaur displays. It was like a childhood dream. The animal farm was ok to say the least. Was hoping to get something to eat while there but cafe kitchen closes by 4pm.

      Great for all ages and handy that you can buy passes for different areas as my toddler wasn't so interested in the butterflies more the farm animals.

      Our daughter had a great day out for her 4th birthday here, Plenty to see, Great value for money. The cafe was very busy, but we managed to find a seat. Lovely food. Staff were very friendly and cheerful. Highly recommend.
