General Info
Butterfly Creek are proud to host NZ's only giant saltwater crocodiles - the world's apex predators. Complimenting these reptiles is our magnificent tropical butterfly house, cotton-top tamarins and other reptiles such as the bearded dragon and alligators. We also host NZ's giant wetapunga - one of the world's largest insects and an aquaria and bugs exhibit including tarantulas. Beside the courtyard and playground, take a wee train ride around the new Dinosaur Kingdom that opened in Jan 2014 - see the dinosaurs come to life! Last but not least is Buttermilk farm where you can get up close and personal with the cute and cuddly animals. Butterfly Creek hosts fantastic all-inclusive children's parties and we run a behind the scenes Junior Keeper programme for those animal lovers. Animal encounters occur daily and we are open every day except Xmas & Boxing day and we are 50% undercover so don't let the rain put you off! We are situated 2 minutes from the Airport and provide a free shuttle service to and from the airport.

Enjoyed our visit last week, our son loves the farm animals and i loved the added dinosaur and rainforest area from our last visit. Park was easy to get a pushchair around and food was yummy (although a little pricey)

Fantastic day out for the children, mine love the train, only downfall is it's quite expensive as you only get 1 ride included in admission. The petting zoo part is wonderful, the kids love climbing on the tractor! The dinasours are great but my little one find it a bit scary. The butterfly's of corse are a highlight with them landing on you. A brilliant day out!

Took the kids here and they had such a good time. The spiders were their favorite, they loved seeing how large they were.

Very cool place to go and visit. Naturally there's the butterflies which are beautiful to see up close, but there's also the crocs which are quite a sight here in NZ. If that's not enough there's the dinosaur setup too. I've been there with kids and with just adults - either way it's really a good place to spend a couple of hours wandering and wondering. Staff are also very good at telling you more about what you're seeing. Recommended.
