Butterfly Creek are proud to host NZ's only giant saltwater crocodiles - the world's apex predators. Complimenting these reptiles is our magnificent tropical butterfly house, cotton-top tamarins and other reptiles such as the bearded dragon and alligators. We also host NZ's giant wetapunga - one of the world's largest insects and an aquaria and bugs exhibit including tarantulas. Beside the courtyard and playground, take a wee train ride around the new Dinosaur Kingdom that opened in Jan 2014 - see the dinosaurs come to life! Last but not least is Buttermilk farm where you can get up close and personal with the cute and cuddly animals. Butterfly Creek hosts fantastic all-inclusive children's parties and we run a behind the scenes Junior Keeper programme for those animal lovers. Animal encounters occur daily and we are open every day except Xmas & Boxing day and we are 50% undercover so don't let the rain put you off! We are situated 2 minutes from the Airport and provide a free shuttle service to and from the airport.

A thoroughly enjoyable outing for young and old. Firstly, it is easy to find and has ample parking. The butterfly house is really well laid out, easy to navigate with a pushchair and has enough space that you're not fighting with the crowd to see the butterflies or interact. Helpful and knowledgeable staff on site to answer any questions. Cafe was reasonably priced and, again, plenty of room even when busy. Our toddler had a great time and we will be back again soon.

Love this place nice to go to something different then the zoo butterflies are awsome land on you. We have also had a birthday there that was good staff were abit confused on what to do tho but that wasnt an issue

Always a great day's outing. Lots of different options and kids always enjoy their day. Dinosaurs and train ride being their favourite. Slightly expensive but worth it.

Conference room booking - I have been here a number of times and the venue has always been good for the booking. Room overlooking site, not distracting, good food, well organised venue. Works well for bookings up to maybe 30 people. Machien coffee a bit ho hum, but proper coffe available at aextra cost.

Amazing place for the kids stopped by as soon as we got our rental car, did cost a bit more than expected, but honestly was great we loved the memo fish and the butterflies are just so incrediable, the crocs were super lazy but worth taking a look they are interesting animals
