Auckland Zoo

I know the zoo is capable of providing great entertainment and education for the whole family, but it has another side, one I discovered during a trip there on Nov 1. It had been a year since the last visit and this time it struck me that quite a few areas are looking a bit down-at-heel, as though routine maintenance has been put to one side. A disappointing number of signs announced that the animals (or whatever) were not on display, sometimes due to the various parts of the zoo that are under construction or reconstruction. Even more exhibits were choosing to keep away from the public view, not that that's the zoo's fault, but it contributed to a disappointing visit, not at all worth today's high entry fees. Last point: although the official zoo volunteers are probably a good idea, they became annoying after the fifth one came up unasked to deliver some random facts about an exhibit. Trying to avoid any more of them at least added some interest to the day.

It is such a great place. It is a massive zoo, that you get to walk around in and see all the animals. It also has lots of information about the animals too. I have been here a few times, and it was really fun to see how all the animals interact and behave.

Love this zoo, annual passes are great value, good variety of things for kids to see. Would recommend going early during peak times to find a park.

So many animals. The kids enjoyed the giraffe, elephant and zebra especially. Photo and food was a bit pricey but we brought our own food along so pricey food didnt affect us.

My visit to Auckland zoo was very fun and educational.
