The coffee was very smooth and we really enjoyed our breakfast dishes - salmon hash and the pumpkin salad. The menu was quite extensive. We were lucky to get a bay window seat and had the sun on our backs

Bit expensive but when you get your food on table, you would surprise best presentation.

Went here just for a drink, had the beetroot latte and turmeric latte. Both were good although there was a bit of undissolved powder in the bottom which made the last mouthful less pleasant. That said, service was very good from friendly staff and had plenty of parking on a Sunday which is good for Mount Eden.

After reading the reviews we weren’t sure what to expect but we’re glad we tried Altar. The coffee was very smooth and we really enjoyed our breakfast dishes - salmon hash and the pumpkin salad. The menu was quite extensive. We were lucky to get a bay window seat and had the sun on our backs. The decor may be a bit piecemeal but don’t let that detract from the main reason for going. A very pleasant start to the day and we would happily eat there again.
