Tomi Japanese Restaurant

The sashimi was the best of the dishes we had, but the tempura prawns, and the teriyaki chicken were not up to standard. The chicken had obviously been reheated. One of the wait staff was very good, but the service was inconsistent.

Very busy suburb restaurant, nice meal and not too expensive, friendly staff and I did not wait long for delivery.

Tomi is always welcoming and has great Japanese quisine

I had the chicken bento as takeaway, they were delicious and good value. The person who served me was really helpful and friendly. I had to eat in the restaurant because it was hosing down with hail and I couldn't walk back. He didn't mind me having my takeaway in the shop, he served me with water as well. Really good service and I am really grateful.

This was our first meal in New Zealand, so we are as yet unsure of what to expect in terms of the standard of food. If this restaurant was In Tokyo, I would rate the food as average, but as a neighbourhood restaurant in Christchurch I think that it deserves a better rating. The tuna sashimi was very competent and tasty. The tempura prawns were good, but the pork Katsu, whilst tasty.
