We have been here a few times on different school trips with the kids. The kiwi house is a definite highlight and the children just love seeing the kiwis walking around in the forest looking for food. Very educational, lots of parking available and the little gift shop is nice as well.
The best place I've ever visited to actually see Kiwi!! You see them every single time in the dark rooms. Unlike other zoos/parks where you spend ages looking and never see them. Last time I visited, I watched a kiwi play right in front of me for ages. It was awesome! Really enjoy the walk through the park also. Heaps of Native birds about to see and photograph
Love it! We stopped on our way home from the snow. My daughter was doing a project on the Kea and the lovely staff at the kiwi house told her all about them and even printed out some info for her to take home! Very helpful. It was cool to see some Kiwis too
Utterly spectacular, bordering on magical. Wander around in the huge bird arena, see Kiwi in their exhibits digging for grubs and socialising, hear all about native flora and fauna from one of the highly knowledgeable custodians, or get a guided tour to be shown some of those special 'insider secrets' that make a visit into an experience.
