Butterfly Creek are proud to host NZ's only giant saltwater crocodiles - the world's apex predators. Complimenting these reptiles is our magnificent tropical butterfly house, cotton-top tamarins and other reptiles such as the bearded dragon and alligators. We also host NZ's giant wetapunga - one of the world's largest insects and an aquaria and bugs exhibit including tarantulas. Beside the courtyard and playground, take a wee train ride around the new Dinosaur Kingdom that opened in Jan 2014 - see the dinosaurs come to life! Last but not least is Buttermilk farm where you can get up close and personal with the cute and cuddly animals.
Butterfly Creek hosts fantastic all-inclusive children's parties and we run a behind the scenes Junior Keeper programme for those animal lovers.
Animal encounters occur daily and we are open every day except Xmas & Boxing day and we are 50% undercover so don't let the rain put you off!
We are situated 2 minutes from the Airport and provide a free shuttle service to and from the airport.
Was great to see the kids reactions to the crocodiles. Their faces just lit up with amazement. The park was great to wander around and had a lot of creepy crawlies to peer at. Definitely worth a look if you are in Auckland with some time up your sleeve.
I didn't realize this was in Auckland! We were all enthralled with the spiders, they were massive and thankfully behind glass!!
Took the kids here and they had such a good time. The spiders were their favorite, they loved seeing how large they were.
The dinosaur kingdom is a must for any dinosaur fan. The butterflies were beautiful too. Well priced, lots to see and great cafe and playground, Day well spent
Amazing attraction located so close to airport. We had plenty time before flight so decided to take the kids here and totally dont regret it. Well worth the money spent on entry. So much to see and do
Butterflies were amazing, Great convenient location. Well priced. So much to see and do here. Food was devine also. We will be back
Short walk from the airport while I was waiting for a flight. My favourite was the crocodiles, I just couldn't get enough of them. Good job Butterfly Creek, LOVED IT

The kids totally enjoyed this park! There is so much to see in such a little place. Make sure you check on the website for the times that they show case some of the animals they have on display as you get up close and personal with them. We managed to touch a taranchula! The butterflies fly around you and land everywhere and are just beautiful to observe for all ages! Ample parking aswell. The team of workers are awesome and answer all questions the kids have. There is a neat little gift shop on site aswell as a cafe. Must see on the to do list
Awesome place to bring children. The butterfly room is fantastic, and the demonstration with the crocodiles was very interesting. The children loved the farm bit too.
This place promises an awesome time for kids of all ages, the close encounter with butterflies is awesome, you'd never want to leave!
Farm animals are also cute & u can get creative with the camera at the dinosaurs kingdom
Enjoyed our visit last week, our son loves the farm animals and i loved the added dinosaur and rainforest area from our last visit. Park was easy to get a pushchair around and food was yummy (although a little pricey)
lovely place to visit with kids, not cheap but heck its not something you do every weekend. The butterfly house was awesome, but very very hot!. Something for kids of all ages here.
A good option to visit regardless of the weather - there is both indoor and outdoor attractions at butterfly creek to enjoy. Crocodiles, butterflies, snakes, lizards and a farm where you can feed the animals, lots of things to enjoy and engage with. Luckily for me, there is only 2 children in my family, so my visits here are manageable in the sense of budgeting, however, it would get quite expensive for those that have big families.
The only downfall to butterfly creek is the price, its far too expensive when you have 4 children. However, it is a great place to visit, very sensual and lots of different things to look at and experience. The butterfly house would be the highlight for me, although the kids freak out a bit at first when they land on you, they get used to it and learn to be gentle. The staff are very patient with little ones, and the coffee at the cafe onsite is pretty good!
Great theme parks for kids and their parents. A train, animals to pet and feed, good cafe, butterflies and crocodiles, my kids love everything here. A half day outing I would say
Came here a few weeks ago with my daughter, was a bit pricey but we really enjoyed it. Beautiful butterfly house and had fun watching the crocks. Plenty to see and do, friendly staff, cafe was average.
