General Info

Butterfly Creek are proud to host NZ's only giant saltwater crocodiles - the world's apex predators. Complimenting these reptiles is our magnificent tropical butterfly house, cotton-top tamarins and other reptiles such as the bearded dragon and alligators. We also host NZ's giant wetapunga - one of the world's largest insects and an aquaria and bugs exhibit including tarantulas. Beside the courtyard and playground, take a wee train ride around the new Dinosaur Kingdom that opened in Jan 2014 - see the dinosaurs come to life! Last but not least is Buttermilk farm where you can get up close and personal with the cute and cuddly animals. Butterfly Creek hosts fantastic all-inclusive children's parties and we run a behind the scenes Junior Keeper programme for those animal lovers. Animal encounters occur daily and we are open every day except Xmas & Boxing day and we are 50% undercover so don't let the rain put you off! We are situated 2 minutes from the Airport and provide a free shuttle service to and from the airport.

Great discounts for special needs kids (term time only, Mon-Fri). We love the train and petting / feeding the barnyard animals. Also the quiet dark aquarium area.

Fabulous afternoon out with the family. We loved seeing all the different butterflies and animals you can get up close and personal with. The train ride was fun for little ones too.

Really enjoy visiting Butterfly Creek, the butterfly room was amazing and the different species was incredible. If you are lucky enough they will land on you for a closer look.

Enjoyed our visit last week, our son loves the farm animals and i loved the added dinosaur and rainforest area from our last visit. Park was easy to get a pushchair around and food was yummy (although a little pricey)
