Te Waka Huia Wellington Museum

This museum used to be known as the Maritime Museum, which sounded boring so I never visited. This year I visited while doing a university project and was surprised by how interesting and engaging it was.
The waterfront location is a winner for a beautiful day. It is compact with a cute little shop. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. I will be back and have recommended this museum to many of my friends.

Lovely boutique museum has a really good narrative around wellington. Plenty to explore but not so big that you get lost in a non connected story. Some of the exhibits are brilliant especially around early wellington and the Wahine disaster. Certainly well worth the visit. Many nice restaurants and cafes near by which is a nice bonus.

Great experience. The maritime theme through the Museum is a winner. Loved the wharf like entrance and the authentic sounds and smell of the ropes. Worth spending time going through the floors of exhibits. Top Notch.

Growing up in Wellington as a child, it was great to look back on memories of how i remember it being. I took a lot of pictures to share with the family when i get back so they can remember too. Highly recommend a look here.
