Stunning views over Otago Harbor, friendly staff, our lunch was the best we had during our stay in Dunedin.

The gardens were to die for

The history of the castle is probably the most important factor contributing to the place's charm. The origins of the castle coupled with the lengthy restoration by a visionary has made this place worth visiting, not to mention the views you'd be rewarded with from the top. Although not as ornate as many castles, but it stems from the fact that it's more of a large home of a wealthy Presbyterian family.

Apart from the indoor stadium - this is another one of Dunedin's highlights that the rest of the country should be looking at with envy. Cool historical feel which is hard to find in NZ. Nice grounds and a cool tea room/hall. If you can't afford a trip to Highclere Castle, then Larnach is your best NZ bet and won't disappoint.

Visited Lanarch Castle last month and stayed in the lodge. Beautiful place so much history and lovely staff, friendly and informative. Really nice walking around the gardens. Worth the visit for any body.
