Content you can create in lockdown

So you’ve found yourself with a little extra time on your hands, and you’re wondering how to make the most of it. You’ve seen all the good stuff on Netflix, and the house is (mostly) sparkling clean. You know it’s important to keep in touch not only with your friends, family, and that one neighbour who invites you round for BBQs, but you’ll also want to stay top of mind for your customers once the lockdown has been lifted.

If your business has a social media profile, now’s a good opportunity to create some helpful or entertaining content to stay connected with your audience.

Here are a few ideas to get the creative juices flowing.

Viva La Videos:

Social algorithms love them, and anyone with a smartphone can make them - videos are the king of content. Just pass your phone to someone else to shoot or set it up on a chair and hit record! You could feature in any of the following clips:

Product demos

Got a flash new water blaster or a hair dryer like a tornado?

Show off the tools of your trade that help you provide the best service for your customers. We all love a good before and after.

Helpful tips

Your customers will appreciate any helping hand you can lend them from afar, and they’ve also got some time to fill in the next wee while. Shoot a how-to clip and ask your audience to upload their version!

Got a project on the go? Film it in time-lapse. Set up your phone where it has a good view of your area in good light. iPhone cameras have a time-lapse setting, making it super easy to get a great video in a flash (so to speak).

Interpretive Dance

Your customers will either really appreciate this, or not appreciate it at all, depending on how good you are. The floor is yours.

Flog your blog

Take the top 5 questions you get asked by your customers and put pen to paper to answer them in detail. Or highlight a little-known aspect of your business/industry and how it can help your customers. Blogs are a fantastic way to build trust with your customers – they get to know you better and you showcase your knowledge and experience.

High Praise

92% of consumers read online reviews and testimonials before they decide to do business with you, so it’s worth taking the time to send an email to your lovely loyal customers and ask for a written testimonial (or better yet, one filmed on their phone). We know businesses are doing it a bit tough, and many people would be happy to help, especially in the form of providing some complimentary words.

Either include their quote with a photo of the job you did or create a picture quote to give it some jazz hands on the newsfeed.  If you don’t fancy yourself a designer, jump on to https://www.canva.com/ and select one of their easy templates.
