Walnut Cottage Cafe

We have been here a few times before and beginning to make it a preference as it a retreat restaurant away from the hubbub of the Boulevard. Find the management and staff very friendly. When I ordered my fish and chips I was asked " and how would you like your fish" I replied "medium rare" You can easily see the empathy of the staff when you Get a humorous response to a joke. The selection was battered or crumbed not so common to have a selection for fried fish. Anyway top marks

Sitting next to a river flowing into the northern estuary at Orewa Beach this is a beautiful location and the food is worthy of the location. The covered verandah looks straight out onto the river with all its birdlife. It is a family business and the service is friendly

Nice cosy setting, and starting to show signs of too many visitors between refurbishments. But it does have an authentic flavour.
We had three generations of diners, and all were able to find something tasty to suit their needs, even the most finicky (Gran)
Pleasant tranquil setting, river passes the balcony with it's attendant wildlife, and plenty of grounds around for a stroll after a pleasant meal.

Had breakfast here and was lovely. The food choice is excellent and all the staff very friendly and welcoming

Stopped off for breakfast on way up north. We had big breakfast and portobello mushrooms which were both delicious. Staff are lovely and loved the character of the building. Drive passed the town centre and stop here well worth it.
