Christchurch City Libraries are a network of public libraries in the Christchurch City area, supported by 11 network service teams for ratepayers and residents of the city and surrounding areas. Facilities include a mobile library and a digital library, internet access and email are available through the free wifi. Each library has a wide range of resources including books, CDs, DVDs, audiobooks, eBooks, magazines, newspapers, maps as well as a wide range of online resources for study, research, personal information and entertainment.

The new Turanga library in central city is fantastic. Sl many different things happening to cater for a wide range of people. Dont like the noise of the childrens space though but being able to go out onto the rooftop is great.

Halswell Library. Lovely modern library that has a good range of services and books on the shelves. There is also lots of places to sit and relax with a book. However, parking is hard is find especially when sport and the pool is open. With the design of the building which is very long, it requires a lot of walking to get from one end to the other.

This library is fantastic, very neat and clean with so many different facilities.

The late fees are a bit on the steep side but a small price to pay for the huge selection of books/movies/magazines you can borrow. Turanga in town has an amazing range of facilities available including use of sewing machines and overlockers.
