General Info
Real Groovy is the best place to find what you were and weren't looking for. Independently owned since 1981, it's one of the first and longest lasting true record stores in New Zealand and an Auckland icon. In Store you'll find not only vinyl records, but also a fantastic range of unique books, CDs, DVDs, posters, collectibles, novelties, t-shirts, music related memorabilia and more.

One of the best record stores I've come across world wide. I lived in London for 10 years and I would say Real Groovy is as good as any you would in London. Always has a great range of music. Long Live Real Groovy

Very good music store. Has great records and book. It is a really good place if you do not have ideas for gifts. Staff is also very friendly and helpful.

As a record collector with serious issues(!) I have to take issue with Scott01's review.

Absolutely ridiculous. Scott you need to go to Music & Video Exchange mate.
I've visited Real Groovy three times now and had an identical experience each time. It goes like this, spend around 1 hour rifling through the boxes of the rubbish mom and pop bins, find the occasional balearic belter. Move onto the full price sections, spend another hour, take a massive stack to the record players, decide on a bunch of records. Add up what the bill will be then think "Are you kidding me!!" the records here in NZ and in Australia are so ridiculously overpriced it is not even funny, except at Real Groovy, where even the rubbish stuff is way way overpriced. these guys are yet another example of why sadly record shops are dying because they are unable or unwilling to price competitively. So you can pay up to $50 for a reissued hip hop album, I wont pay it, but 3, 8 & 15 as price points for stuff you find in charity shops the world over, ridiculous.
So I leave and go home and spend much less on much much better records on Discogs. and repeat.
