Great place to bring kids! We took our toddler to one of the Bubble weekends - highly recommend for any age group. I wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did, but there's a great mix of vehicles, technology, sciencey stuff and a lot of it is hands-on.

I was first introduced to MOTAT when I was a small child by my grandfather. Over the years I have visited a number of times - nowhere near as often as I would have liked due to moving out of Auckland - but I recently had the delightful experience of introducing my son to this magical place.
Despite its age, this is still one of the most wonderful places to bring an enquiring young mind or three, and all of the wonder and magic are still there - along with a few of the exhibits I first saw as a child - but new exhibitions are always being rotated through to keep it timely and engaging to the current generation.
I would encourage anyone with any interest in educating their child/ren as to where today's technology came from, to make the time to come and visit. Grab a family pass, or better yet grab an annual pass so you can come back as many times as you like at no extra cost. As long as you visit 3 times a year, the passes are a bargain. (And even if you don't, consider that the extra money will help keep this awesome place alive a while longer, since the great bulk of its funds come from people just like you.)

Loads of history and things to look at and touch. The staff are really helpful and good at their jobs.

Fantastic day out with the kids! Really enjoyed all the school holiday specials and it certainly didn't matter that the weather was a bit yucky.

Great place to spend a day with the kids, learning but also enjoying yourself... something for everyone!
