Authentic Italian food with lovely ambience. Very welcoming!

Went on a Fri night with friends. Place was not full. Friendly service, warm, cosy enough place for winter night. We had veal and duck. Meal was ok, not very tasty. Also tried tiramisu. Was good but not large amount. Not good enough for me to return altho I had a half price deal.

Great place for good Italian food. The potato gnocchi was great and everyone enjoyed their meals. We did find the portions small so order a salad or side as well. Very friendly service.

The food at Gusto Italiano is always delicious. They make a fantastic ragu and the risottos are also a favourite. It is easy to feel as though you are in a little village cafe in Italy rather than Ponsonby Road. The owner and staff go out of their way with good service and to make everyone feel relaxed and welcome.

Had the best fettuccine here! It was deliciously creamy and cheesy seasoned with just the right amount of pepper. I came in a large group so we were seated upstairs but downstairs was totally packed! Best to make a booking even on a weeknight. They have live opera so if that's your thing come on a Wednesday.
